The canvas area

One of the most prominent areas in the software is this one. Here is where you can see all your designs and all the changes you make using amazing features and tools Design Space has to offer.

This area is made out of a grid which makes it easier for you to visualize the actual cutting mat. You can decide to have it’s measurements in centimeters or inches based on what you prefer. You can also zoom in and out to see your designs clearly and you can also select, delete, or modify individual layers in the design.

Left panel, also called the design panel, to insert anything you need!

Whether you want to insert images or shapes, the options are present on the left panel. It gives you all the options you need to insert anything.

You can add images, texts, shapes, etc., and you can also add direct ready to cut projects from Cricut Access if needed. The main thing to keep in mind is that you need to pay for things on this panel before you use them unless you have Cricut Access or your images that you can use.

Right panel, also called the layers toolbar, for layering.

Layers are basically any elements that are currently present on your canvas. Multiple elements can make a whole project that you can later cut. The layers depend totally on the complexity of your project.

You can group different layers together, ungroup something, duplicate certain layers, or even delete layers you no longer need in the canvas area. There are several other options available like slice, attach, weld, etc. that you can master as you use Design Space more and more.

Top panel, or the header, is dedicated to editing.

The top panel in Design Space consists of all the tools and features you need to edit the elements you have in your canvas area.

You can choose the font of your text, the kind of alignment you want, save your project and see previous projects you have created in the past. You will continue to find many amazing features the more you browse this top panel as well.
